Chapel Hart’s recent performance on “America’s Got Talent” has Dolly Parton’s stamp of approval.
Chapel Hart, made up of sisters Danica and Devynn Hart and their first cousin, Trea Swindle, offered a follow-up to the classic country song, “Jolene” in which the woman no longer begs Jolene not to take her man.
“He don’t mean much to me / Well I brought so much, two rivers turned the seas / Oh Jolene, when you think that he’s in love surely leave / Like he did me / You can have him, Jolene.” they sing in “You Can Have Him, Jolene.”
Dolly tweeted, “What a fun new take on my song, Chapel Hart. [My husband] Carl’s birthday is today so I think I’ll hang on to him, and I’m not notifying Jolene that today is his birthday.”
Chapel Hart’s performance brought the house down. And all four judges, plus host Terry Crews, decided to give them a “group golden buzzer.” They’re going straight to the live shows.
What a fun new take on my song, @ChapelHartBand! Carl's birthday is today so I think I'll hang on to him, and I'm not notifying Jolene that today is
his birthday 😉 #AGT https://t.co/UFiT1AH84R— Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) July 20, 2022
Dolly wasn’t the only country artist to chime in, Darius Rucker tweeted that he’s already put the group on his next record!
I mean…we weren’t TRYING to break the whole internet, but since @dariusrucker let the cat out of the bag… https://t.co/FhwMoqQOh1
