Shania Twain to Voice “Mrs. Potts” in Beauty & The Beast 30th Anniversary Special

Shania Twain has joined the cast of ABC’s upcoming special Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Anniversary.

Per Deadline, Twain will voice the beloved Mrs Potts alongside Martin Short, who will voice Lumière, and David Alan Grier as Cogsworth. Musicians H.E.R. and Josh Groban will play the title roles of Belle and the Beast. Joshua Henry and Rita Moreno round out the cast as Gaston and the special’s narrator, respectively.

Twain shared the news with fans saying, “I am unbelievably honoured… and excited… and all of the emotions(!!) to announce that I will be joining the cast of #BeautyAndTheBeast30th to play the part of my favourite character – Mrs Potts.”

She went on to pay tribute to the original voice of Mrs Potts, Angela Lansbury, who passed away at the age of 96 earlier this month.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t pay tribute to the iconic Angela Lansbury, I mean she IS Mrs. Potts and the reason why this character is so beloved, ” Twain wrote. “To follow in the foot steps of such an icon is a huge honour and I hope to do the part justice.”

Airing Thursday, Dec. 15 at 8/7c, ABC’s Beauty and the Beast production will interweave live-action musical performances with scenes from the animated film.
