Jake Owen shared a message with fans this weekend after he was hospitalized with an undisclosed illness.
Owens shared that he was feeling under the weather last weekend, but he refused to let it stop him. He did shows in Mankato, Minnesota . . . Kearney, Nebraska . . . and Ottumwa, Iowa. And then he finally got some medical care.
He shared the details on Instagram saying, “I pretended to feel well all weekend, but ended up back in the hospital.” He didn’t say what he was suffering from, but it was bad enough that it almost knocked him out.
“Just because there’s a smile on someone’s face, doesn’t mean they aren’t goin thru something,” he wrote. “That’s what I think about when I see you in the crowd..”What are they goin through? How can I lift them up?” I can see through the smile sometimes.”
“You guys lift me up. Tbh, it was everything I could do to not pass out on stage last night. I got through it though because I know how lucky I am to do this for a living… I’m not dialing it in. I want to thank my entire crew and team for supporting me on stage and off.”
Jake shared that he will be ok adding, “Sometimes as men, we are stubborn.. I know for a fact I am. I push it to the limits. I always have. I always will….But most importantly I’ve got two little girls that need me to be there for them and the best I can be. So that’s what I’m doin… I’m workin on me.”
He told fans, “I’m gonna go see my Granddaddy celebrate his 100th birthday this weekend, and get some quality family time. I’m looking forward to that. I’ll be back out stronger than ever next time I hit the stage.”
