Las Vegas-based tour company Max Tour just ranked the most popular getaways for Memorial Day, and number one on the list is First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach!

The tour company describes First Landing saying “This park offers 20 miles of trails and 1.5 miles of sandy Chesapeake Bay beachfront, perfect for hiking, picnicking, and beach enjoyment in a scenic setting.”

If you can’t make it to First Landing int he summer, winter is a popular time for visitors hoping to see the park’s infamous swamp rainbow.

Cape Cod National Seashore came in second place, followed by St. Simons Island, Georgia; Arlington National Cemetery; and Clearwater Beach, Florida.

Rankings were determined by an online panel survey of 3,000 Americans based on age, gender, and geography. Internal data sources are used to obtain population data sets. The company shared they used a two-step process to ensure representativeness through stratified sampling and post-stratification weighting. May 2024.
